Amadou Onana’s accent-switch on being called the wrong name was next-level stuff, then Wikipedia entered the chat

Everton and Belgium midfielder Amadou Onana was already having a difficult time when he was interviewed after his country’s 1-0 loss to Slovakia, when an English journalist tried to attract his attention by calling him André – mixing him up with Manchester United’s André Onana.

His understandably exasperated reaction went viral.

“Andre’s not even my name, mate. D’ya know what I mean?”

It wasn’t the language switch that caught people’s attention – as impressive as that was – but the clear London accent he used. Code-switching level: Expert.

Onana was born in Dakar, Senegal to a Senegalese mother and a Cameroonian father.[15][16][17] At the age of 11, Onana, with his mother and sister, moved to Brussels, Belgium to join his father.[18] Onana is a Muslim.[19] He is fluent in five languages: Wolof, French, Cockney, Dutch, German and English.
