Sideshow Bob searches cripple Google after Brooks arrest
Technology News: Google has blamed a dramatic increase in searches for Sideshow Bob following the arrest of Rebekah Brooks for the failure of some of its key services this morning.
The internet giant said that a massive spike in image searches for The Simpson’s character after the arrest of Brooks and her husband crippled their servers – leaving many users unable to access Gmail, Google Maps and YouTube.
“Between 7am and 1pm today our search service was overwhelmed with Facebook and Twitter users looking for a picture of Sideshow Bob to make the same joke about Rebekah Brooks,” said Google UK spokesman Nathan Petapixel.
“Next time the police arrest Ms. Brooks we would appreciate it if they could give us a heads up. And if they ever arrest Piers Morgan, then the police really need to give us as much advance warning as possible.”
“I don’t know if our servers will be able to take the strain of tens of millions of people around the world simultaneously typing in the word c**t.”
