Loose Women TomTom causes M3 pile-up
Technology News: A GPS navigation voice provided by the host’s of the ITV lunchtime show Loose Women has been blamed for a horrific bank holiday pile-up on the M3 motorway, in which dozens died.
An inquest today heard that the TomTom – voiced by Loose Women presenters Carol McGiffin, Denise Welch, Jane McDonald and Sherrie Hewson – was the direct cause of the 22 car accident in which 38 people died, although the coroner is due to rule a number of those deaths as suicides.
“When we first turned on the Loose Women TomTom it all seemed very good natured,” said crash survivor Sharon Powers.
“But within a minutes they were all screeching and shouting over each other. Seconds later my husband lost control of the car.”
It’s not the first controversy over a TomTom voice. In 2007 a voice pack by the disgraced Tory Peer Jeffrey Archer had to be withdrawn from sale, as it was obvious he was shamelessly lying about everything.
