Erotic cave art blamed for archaeologist’s erection during lecture
Art News: Australian cave paintings that feature scenes of ‘unparallelled eroticism’ have been blamed for an archaeologist’s unwanted erection during a lecture.
Archaeologist Bruce Byrce, a professor at the University of Hong Kong, was giving a lecture on the series of drawings found on the roof of caves in the wilderness in Arnhem Land in northern Australia, when a particularly saucy slide gave him the unexpected woody.
Professor Byrce reportedly then blushed, got a series of facts wrong and started standing at a weird angle to the audience in an attempt to mask his shame.
“I had been excavating the site for the last six months, looking at the sexy cave paintings every day. I didn’t once get a semi that whole time, so imagine my surprise when I went full salute during the lecture.”
One section of artwork they have excavated – depicting three naked copulating couples – has been dated to 28,000 years old – making it one of the oldest porno scenes in the world.
