Missed call from unknown number prompts afternoon of speculation
Phone News: A man who missed a call from an unknown number has spent the rest of the afternoon speculating who and why somebody might have called him.
Peter Chakushin, 26, was making a cup of tea when his phone rang from an unknown number – the caller then hung up very quickly and didn’t leave a message.
“I wasn’t expecting any calls,” said Chakushin. “Then I started wondering who it could be and what they might have wanted. Perhaps it was an ex, calling to say they’d make a huge mistake about ending our relationship? Then they had second thoughts and hung up.”
Chakushin continued wildly speculating about the missed call for the rest of the afternoon. At one point he convinced himself it might have been Prime Minister David Cameron, calling him up to thank him for supporting the 2012 Olympics.
“I bought tickets for the Olympic Water Polo,” said Chakushin. “Maybe he was calling to personally thank me for that, then had to hang up because of some international incident that demanded his immediate attention?”
