Mark Zuckerberg ‘created over 500 million fake Facebook accounts’
Social News: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg confirms that the social network now has 1 billion active users a month, half of which are accounts he created himself.
The milestone means Zuckerberg has achieved his stated ambition of creating more fake Facebook profiles than the entire population of Europe. “It was a tough job coming up with all those made up names,” said Zuckerberg.
“But I’m a determined man with a lot of free time on his hands. However, remembering the password for each account was the toughest part.”
Zuckerberg claims he created the fake profiles in order to make users feel better, not as part of an attempt to boost the company’s flagging share value.
“I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you,“ the Facebook founder said. “And if that means creating half a billion fake accounts to make actual users feel popular, then so be it.”
“You didn’t think all those friend requests from complete strangers were from real people did you?”
