Salmond demands a separate BBC to focus on Beechgrove Garden repeats

TV News: Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond has demanded a wholly separate BBC for Scotland which can focus on repeats of the popular gardening programme Beechgrove Garden.

If Scotland votes yes to independence in a referendum due to be held in autumn 2014, Salmond says that BBC Scotland should become wholly separate as well.

Then it is free to clear the schedules of what Salmond describes as ‘English-centric propaganda’ and instead broadcast back-to-back repeats of Beechgrove Garden – one of Salmond’s favourite programmes.

“I began my political career in the 1970’s, the same decade Beechgrove Garden started broadcasting on BBC Scotland,” said Salmond.

“Over the years I’ve found much wisdom in the words of host Jim McColl, as I believe that politics and gardening are closely linked – you have to uproot the weeds of dissent, prune back reckless public spending and dump a wheelbarrow of shit on things every once in a while.”
