Edward Snowden Confirmed As Glastonbury Headliner
Music News: Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis has confirmed the ex-CIA whistleblower Edward Snowden will headline on Sunday, reading out leaked documents to a live jazz soundtrack.
A representative for Snowden confirmed that he intends travel by helicopter to the festival on Sunday, where he will take to the Pyramid stage to perform his much talked about ‘Whistleblower’ album in full.
“It’s a concept album that’s got the world buzzing,” said the spokesman. “We wouldn’t be doing his fans justice by only letting him perform one track on a smaller stage, so the Rolling Stones have generously given up the headline slot for Ed.”
The performance has been criticised by the US government, who insist the decision to perform with a jazz accompaniment is inappropriate, arguing that a dubstep backing would be more suitable. Other groups say that the decision for Snowden merchandise to go on sale after the performance is morally questionable.
“We’ve got to pay for all these flights somehow,” said a Snowden representative. “We need to flog at least 5,000 t-shirts to break even on the flight to Cuba he never got on.”
