Guardian Running Out Of Autumnal Celeriac Recipes
Media News: The Guardian newspaper says it has now used up most of its stash of celeriac recipes that are perfect for a warming, autumnal supper.
Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger says the shortage was only brought to his attention after a recent Nigel Slater column, which consisted of only five words – “Mashed celeriac? I don’t know.” and a photo of an empty Le Creuset casserole dish.
“Since its founding in 1821 The Guardian has faced many challenges, but none as great as this,” said Rusbridger.
“If we do not take urgent action, celeriac-based recipes will be just a distant memory – and the Guardian may have to refocus on other seasonal root vegetables that are perfect for a chilly autumn evening dinner, like parsnips.”
The news has hit hard for employees of the paper – chef Angela Hartnett was said to be ‘inconsolable’ at the shortage and it’s thought fellow columnist Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall had to be talked down from a high window ledge after the news was broken to him.
