12 Signs You Grew Up In A Small Town

Powered By Comedy Central

If you grew up in a small town you probably couldn’t wait to get out and embrace the bright lights, hectic nightlife, high crime rates and pollution of the big city.

So spare a thought for those people who didn’t escape. Like the residents of Orson, Indiana, who know all about the pros and cons of small town life – in particular Frances Heck, a loving wife and mother of three, who lives in this small midwest town with her family.

Now – after Sky1 lost a knife-fight in a car park – hit US sitcom The Middle is coming to Comedy Central on Tuesdays at 9pm.

So, exactly what are the signs you grew up in a small town (or are still stuck there)?

1. The crimes in your town are particularly brutal.

2. The graffiti is edgy and hardcore.

3. You feel like your life has limited options.

4. The romantic opportunities are also limited.

5. The local newspaper breaks all the biggest stories.

6. The locals have somewhat unconventional hobbies.

7. The restaurants have unusual dining rules.

8. Everybody knows your business.

9. The only reason tourists stop in your town is to take pictures of the amusing signs.

10. You are exposed to unique farming techniques.

11. Shops operate more flexible opening hours.

12. Small town politicians are more approachable and friendly.
