That might be true to an extent, but what the marketing experts fail to tell companies is that these handy, accessible corporate Facebook pages have a tendency to attract trolls, conspiracy theorists and the terminally bewildered like furious, baffled moths to a flame.

Despite this, the biggest firms try their best to engage with these timewasters. Their social media staff all deserve a pay rise. Hilary Wardle has found 12 of the strangest – and silliest – ones.
