Bald Men UK Christmas Appeal Complains Of ‘Charity Fatigue’
Charity News: The UK’s biggest charity organisation supporting bald men has complained of record low donations this Christmas, citing ‘charity fatigue’. “It’s a problem of emotional bandwith,” says Stephen Marmot, head of Bald Men UK.
“Every other advert on TV is some miserable kid, and our message is getting lost. The very real concerns of men suffering the humiliation of scalp plague are simply being elbowed into the shadows.”
Bald Men UK, formerly The Foundation for Bald Men, formerly Shine On, has been helping afflicted men throughout the country since last Monday. It promotes ‘consolation and advice’ via a premium rate phone service, and home visits from Smooth Pain, the baldness sufferers network.
“That’s often just me,” says Mr. Marmot, “and unless we get the vital funding we require, well perhaps I won’t be able to make it out this Christmas. Perhaps I’ll just stay inside with my girlfriend Lisa, who has lots of hair.”
