Peeing robot forces Google to turn off map editing
Google is suspending its public Map Maker tool – used by a community of users to independently add landmarks and helpful tips to Google Maps – after a giant pissing robot was added, reports CNN.
Map Maker previously didn’t need approval for edits, but after someone created a fake park in Pakistan in the shape of an Android robot having a slash on the Apple logo, Google have imposed a strict review process.
The BBC reports that the breaking point came after “a strong user in our community chose to go and create a large scale prank on the map.”
Previously someone used a Google Maps loophole to add a fake listing for Edward Snowden’s hiding place in the White House.
