Penis-shaped Christmas tree pulled down after locals fear hard times ahead
A cock-shaped Christmas tree in a town in Northern Russia has been removed after complaints from locals, reports The Metro.
The phallic tree was erected in the city of Noyabrsk in Northern Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region.
Russia Today reports that locals thought the artificial tree – nicknamed ‘penis-fir’ – “looked more like a festive penis than a fir tree”.
While some complained that it was their aesthetic sensitivities that suffered, others got more superstitious and suggested that the odd looking tree might symbolise a “hard upcoming year.”
City authorities said that the installation of the tree wasn’t finished, but have since pulled it down after the backlash from locals and people on social media.
