The people of St Albans can sleep again after a pub apostrophe catastrophe has been fixed
Following a stir on social media, people in a Hertfordshire city are no longer haunted by a grammatical faux pas painted on the side of a refurbished pub, reports the Herts Advertiser.
The Peacock pub had ‘St Albans’ finest’ spelt as ‘St Alban’s finest’ painted on the side of the building last week as part of a refurbishment.
The Peacock’s new manager explained that the error had been made by the sign company who were not based in St Albans. Typical out of town behavior, they were probably a bunch of chancers from Welwyn Garden City.
“Now we can go back to complaining about bin collection times and congestion on the A5183,” said one local. Probably.
