These maps show the most hilarious and rudest place names
If you still laugh at bum and willy jokes (and why wouldn’t you? They’re hilarious!) then a company called ST&G has produced a set of maps that will probably appeal to you as they contain all the weird, silly and downright rude place names in the UK, US and Australia.
ST&G, which stands for the pretty funny-sounding Strumpshaw, Tincleton and Giggleswick, have scoured the landscape for those places that normally play second fiddle to the better known, more boringly titled areas and created these maps for us all to snigger at.
It’s not always known how these places get their names, although you could take an educated guess as to the origins of such beauties as Whores Wood, Lord Hereford’s Knob and Fanny’s Cross, while the reasons behind Dancing Dicks, The Bastard and Twathats seem a little more enigmatic.
In America, you could find yourself in a horribly familiar setting:
But, if anything, the Australian place names tend to be even funnier than the British and American ones, including the hilarious Mount Buggery, Mossy Nipple Bend and Wankaroo Creek.
ST&G point out that their maps are:
“classy from afar … but far from classy up close.”
Whether you see it that way, they could be the key to your next, and best, road trip!
