Avengers assemble in Albert Square for superhero bus lift
Could Danny Dyer and a couple of old ladies really lift a double decker bus? Or was the world’s strongest man passing through Walford at the time to help out?
Such were the questions being asked on Twitter after the bus crash and heroic rescue that followed on BBC1’s EastEnders.
Like, REALLY?
Just googled the weight of a double decker bus: 12.65 TONNES. Danny Dyer & a couple of old ladies just deadlifted that. #ok #eastenders

See, I saw the world's strongest man pull a bus on telly once… I don't know if Max, Ben and Jay can lift one #Eastenders

still going on about #eastenders but how do you lift a bus that's stuck under a bridge? #justsaying #smellsomethingfishy

Very disappointed with the lack of basic #engineering principles in the bus lift in #Eastenders pic.twitter.com/AZfY0TjfkT

Except something similar really did happen in London in 2015 when a unicyclist became trapped under a bus.
Imagine if the Mitchell brothers had still been around.
In the '90's Phil & Grant would've rescued everybody, moved the bus by hand, repaired the bridge & hit the lad with the phone. #EastEnders
