Piers Morgan pulls out of hosting TV awards after “campaign” against him. World feels 1% better
Full-time Donald Trump apologist and part-time breakfast TV presenter Piers Morgan has pulled out of hosting a TV awards ceremony after a backlash from telly types who disagreed with his support for the American president (among lots of other stuff).
Proof that popular protest can affect real change, although admittedly there are more profound causes than the black-tie Royal Television Society Awards.
Anyway, here’s Morgan’s statement, together with some commentary with which we can all wholeheartedly agree.
Snowflake of the year award goes to the whinging @piersmorgan who thinks nobody liking him is the same as being "banned". Bless. pic.twitter.com/PTcSBfLnCu

And here’s a few of the TV types who felt queasy at the thought of receiving any type of award from the ex-Mirror editor.
Looks like @RTS_media's decision to book @piersmorgan as its awards host has gone down well. pic.twitter.com/X8pOUMGT1S

When Morgan tweeted this invite out to his critics a few days ago, it proved more effective than he presumably imagined.
Anyone else wanting to ban me from hosting the RTS Programme Awards, let them know here: @RTS_media
