The visit only served to highlight Theresa May’s failure to meet with survivors of the tragedy the day before. Here’s what people were saying about it online today.
1.
The Queen has just arrived at the relief centre to meet those affected so I think the “security fears” argument for May is rather redundant

2.
I am ashamed of our Prime Minister. Utterly ashamed.

3.
Our Prime Minister just doesn’t seem to be very good at being a Prime Minister. Gets it wrong so frequently.

The Queen is visiting relatives of the Grenfell Tower disaster. So a 91-year-old woman has got there quicker than Theresa May.

May refuses to meet victims because of security worries but The Queen who is a million years old does it because that’s what human beings do

The May-sort-of-visit worse than the ‘lower the flag in Buckingham Palace’ calls 20 years ago. A potentially dangerous moment in the U.K.

UPDATE
Theresa May later paid two visits to the area today, to a hospital and a church, but didn’t stop to talk to people who had been waiting outside to talk to her.
