This article about the FT’s ‘Let’s do lunch!’ column has a killer last line

There have been plenty of enjoyable ‘Lunch with the Financial Times’ columns over the years, but none of them ended with a blow to the solar plexus quite like this one.

That last paragraph. Just wow.

“There are two things you need to know,” she said. “The first is that Gavin came home yesterday happier than I have seen him in a long time.

“The second – and you are not to feel bad about this – is that he died this morning.”

Seconded.

You can read the retrospective in full here.

The whole thing is a delight, including the most expensive lunches and the cheapest (Sean Combs, who racked up a grand total of £3.82 in Hale and Hearty Soups in New York).
