The Daily Mail letters page is a grim place where the truly mad write in to shout about the old days being better – but here’s one small ray of light where John Ward of Lincolnshire writes in with a truly er.. laboured dad joke.

i've been there, put loads of effort into a joke that wasn't very funny, met with polite laughs that were more "hehe" than the "HA" i was expecting. i know when to cut my losses but this could have so easily been me. i like these when they aren't saying something horrible.
