This attempt to jump a canal is almost as painful to watch as it was to do
People have been literally screaming at a video of a young man – known as Grasshopper Kid – as he attempts to jump over a canal somewhere in the Midlands. The friends filming him can be heard enthusiastically egging him on to attempt the stunt.

“It all seemed so feasible” said no-one, ever, in spite of the group’s highly scientific efforts to determine whether the canal was too wide to jump by measuring it against Grasshopper Kid’s outstretched body beforehand. Some would say his mistake was hesitating enough to lose his momentum, but in many ways, his bigger mistake was in his choice of friends.
The clip was shared by BuzzFeed editor Alan White, on Twitter, where Grasshopper Kid’s idiocy drew some less than sympathetic responses.
Just been sent this and now a train carriage wants to know why I screamed at my phone pic.twitter.com/YTJclpDHjO

Luckily, Twitter user Miss Dee spotted an update to the event and put everyone’s minds at rest – kind of.
