This masterclass in dealing with scammers is the funniest thing you’ll read this week
When Liverpudlian nursing assistant, Tom Sheerin, received a Facebook message attempting to hook him with a scam, he decided to turn the tables. What followed was an object lesson in making sure that not only does crime not pay, but it also wastes a lot of the criminals’ time.
He posted the whole beautiful process. It’s a long read, but worth every moment.
“Decided to have a little fun with someone trying to scam me on facebook, kept him busy for about 2 hours, feel free to share.”
“Michael” then sent Tom a photograph of the money, along with a letter of assurance. No mention of the Jeep.
“ASSURANCE LETTER FROM THE CEO OF FACEBOOK
ALL I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT THE FACEBOOK LOTTERY IS REAL AND LEGITIMATE. BUT THERE ARE SOME SCAM ARTISTS AND PARTICIPANTS USING THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SCAM INNOCENT PEOPLE AND MAJORITY HAD BEEN SCAMMED FROM THIS LOTTERY PROMOTION.
WHEN WILL DISCOVERED THAT THE SCAM ARTISTS ARE REALLY RUINING OUR COMPANY WHICH IS MAKING US TO LOOSE CUSTOMERS, THEN THE WHOLE FACEBOOK DECIDED TO POST ONLINE FOR THE FACEBOOK LOTTERY SCAM ALERT, BECAUSE THE SCAM ARTISTS HAVE DAMAGED A LOT IN OUR COMPANY.
WE ALSO POSTED IT ON GOOGLE THE WAY THE SCAM ARTISTS ARE RUINING OUR COMPANY, SO I WANT YOU TO BE REST ASSURED THIS IS THE RIGHT OFFICE.
ONCE YOU GET YOUR WINNINGS MAKE SURE YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOOD THINGS IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
THANKS AND ACCEPT OUR WARMTH CONGRATULATIONS. RAGARDS.
MARK E. ZUCKERBERG”
Seems legit. We’re not sure how he got into Harvard with such a terrible grasp of grammar and spelling.
The conversation continued.
