How the Daily Mail predicted ‘life in 2011’ shows it never really changes
The Daily Mail is well-known for certain things, such as claiming random items cause cancer, body-shaming celebrities, blaming immigration for everything that’s wrong with the world, and bashing the Labour leader.
It isn’t just about Jeremy Corbyn, though – it’s whoever is Labour leader at the time.
They even had a stab at Ed Miliband’s father, who had served with the Royal Navy during World War II.
But, the DM Reporter, who trawls the Daily Mail for nonsense so we don’t have to, has shared an old headline combining their twin loves of criticising Labour and scaremongering, with regards to a future under Tony Blair.
RETRO: Just in case you thought the Daily Mail going cuckoo-bananas paranoid about Labour leaders was a new thing, here’s Simon Heffer back in 2001 imaging what life would be like in 2011 under a Tony Blair government… pic.twitter.com/AgeaPR0Bqx

I expect we’re all relieved that hospitals aren’t being manned by missionaries instead of the barely trained doctors we’ve been told will be part of the Brexit dividend and that dinner ladies are still just handing out weapons-grade mash and gravy rather than morning-after pills.
As for beer at £11 per litre, there are punters in Shoreditch who’d call that a special offer.
