Ariana Grande’s new Japanese tattoo doesn’t say what she thought it said

To celebrate her latest hit single, 7 Rings, actress and singer Ariana Grande decided to get a cool Japanese tattoo of the title on her hand. The Japanese Kanji lettering actually appears in the video, looking like this 七つの指輪, so it should have been a straightforward job for the tattoo artist, but that’s not what she ended up with. She shared a photo of the new ink:

You’ll notice there’s less writing, and that’s because she decided to just get the symbols for “seven” and “ring” – we get it, Ariana …tattoos hurt. Unfortunately, those two words together translate as “shichirin”, which is a barbecue grill and people quickly alerted her to the error.

Although she deleted the picture from her social media accounts, Ariana reacted to the information.

She later also deleted that tweet, but said this:

These are some of the thousands of comments about the incident.
