The rapid fire editing of this scene from Bohemian Rhapsody is melting people’s brains
The critics hated it but audiences loved it and now Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is nominated for a bunch of Oscars.
Except not everyone’s been one over by the movie starring Rami Malek as the Queen frontman.
There was one scene in particular that gave someone called Prami Chatterjee headaches. Have a watch and it won’t take you long to see why.

My eyes!
I counted 52 cuts in that 82 second scene, making the average shot around 1.57 seconds long. It's 5(?) blokes sat at a table.

I JUST checked and the editor of #BohemianRhapsody is nominated for best editing. He's actually nominated.. ha…hahahaha…I'm gonna lose my fucking mind.

The editing of that scene reminds me of this pic.twitter.com/Y5nrrNUao9

Not everyone agreed, though.
Good editing is when you don't notice the cuts. I loved this movie and was so engrossed I didn't notice the edits at all. It's only a problem when you over analyze out of context. Mission impossible – nice editing but way too long!

What made you think I was looking for the cuts? I was watching it like I watch any other movie & this scene took me outta the experience. And the thing is the rest of the movie is edited like this. But I can't put the entire movie over here. Hence the sample scene.

People love Elton John’s story about Freddie Mercury’s final days (but it might make you cry)
