Jeremy Clarkson was perfectly owned by the cops after he moaned about a road being shut following a fatal accident
Jeremy Clarkson (apologies) wasn’t happy with a road being closed by police after a fatal road accident. So he did exactly what you’d expect him to do – he went on Twitter to moan about it.
Dear The Police, I know it was a nasty crash in Hammersmith last night but how can it take this long to re-open the road?
— Jeremy Clarkson (@JeremyClarkson) June 7, 2019
And he really wouldn’t let it go.
I saw the fatal crash seconds after it happened and it was horrific. Bits of car and glass all down the A4. All evidence
— Soraya (@sorayalaurs) June 7, 2019
I’m sure it was terrible. But once the injured are sorted, the number one priority is opening the road. Blame is irrelevant
— Jeremy Clarkson (@JeremyClarkson) June 7, 2019
And we’re quite glad he did because he got exactly the responses he deserved.
1.
Hi Jeremy, we're sorry this may have caused delay to your journey. Due to the serious nature of the collision, our collision investigation team have to carry out a full forensic investigation which can take time. This is so we are able to provide accurate evidence at court.

2.
Dear Mr Clarkson. Come to a fatal with me as a Collision Investigator. I will educate you as to why we keep the road closed for as long as we do. Bring some shoe covers with you, hate for you to get blood / body matter on your posh shoes.

3.
Dear Jeremy..
Just long enough for us to investigate what happened.
Sorry that you might have been inconvenienced, but someone died in that crash, try not to be too insensitive…..
Kind regards
A Police Officer.

Well Jeremy, as much as I’d like to drive a banger through Borneo, & crash things into caravans or whatever it is you do; my job is finding out why the broom broom crashed & the people are crying. Tends to be complicated. Frustrating too, enough to make you want to punch someone!

5.
We would like to extend an invitation for you to come out on patrol with us for a shift – so you can see, first hand, what we have to deal with 👍🏼

6.
.@JeremyClarkson i believe you have had a number of invitations to join a Roads Policing Team for a shift. Please add our name to the list. When it comes to life changing or fatal collisions there is often a lot more to dealing with them than you think.

And if that didn’t bring it home enough, maybe this response did.
My brother passed away 11 days after an RTC. I dont care if the road is shut for a week. The answers we gained were instrumental in helping me understand why he died. The police were magnificent throughout. Thank you for all you do.

In so sorry John and thank you for your kind words
— Sgt Harry Tangye (@DC_ARVSgt) June 8, 2019
If any decent person had a family member killed or seriously injured they would want the investigation to take as long as necessary – as would any decent human with any scrap of empathy. So sorry for your loss, John x #PoliceFamily do an incredible job ❤️

And if he’d like to read more, there was also this.
This subject comes up a lot @JeremyClarkson so actually I think it's a reasonable question. As an SIO of fatals for 15 years having attended over 150, I wrote a blog to explain it. Hope it helps: https://t.co/LsFdZkCTBP

To conclude …
Because the crash wasn't fake and staged by you and the two most fawning acolytes … *drop an octave* … in the world. https://t.co/58fugN6lxk
