We thought the Downfall meme was cancelled – until Hitler learned about Taika Waititi’s new film
Everybody must have seen at least one version of the Downfall scene in which Hitler is given bad news. We saw him find out there was no camera in the iPod Touch, that Newcastle had been relegated, and in a meta and heartbreaking version, he found out that actor Bruno Ganz – the man playing him in the film – had died. After that one, we thought the meme might retire, like when they put a sports team number out to pasture as a mark of respect – we should have known better.
However, in a clip heralding Jojo Rabbit, Taika Waititi‘s next release, Hitler is once again given news he just can’t handle, and we love it.
