16 irritating modern-day phrases that people really hate
Language evolves over time to meet the demands thrown at it, which is why you can think up a lot of colourful descriptors when someone sneaks into the parking space you were about to take at the supermarket – evolution. In truth, there always has been, and always will be, a divide between the vocabularies of different generations and it can be mildly disturbing to see new words and phrases creep into common usage. It probably explains why writer Lucy Nichol asked this:
