I was once 1p short to buy a coffee from the machine at work (had 29p, needed 30p.) Asked around if I could borrow a penny. Colleague said he only had a 5p piece. He then proceeded to drop the 5p into my hand and TAKE BACK 4p IN CHANGE!

An aunt and uncle—my godparents—didn’t get me a gift for Chanukah because I, at 5 years old, had made gifts for them instead of buying them something. If I didn’t spend money on a gift why should they. They called to let us know.

I gave someone a lift from Sunderland to South London. When I stopped for petrol, she got me to give her the receipt so she could claim (and keep) the work expenses. I didn't see either a thank you or a penny.

Asked to split the bill three ways when we went for lunch in pizza express with my then 7 year old D. I would have been more than happy to pay for her £7 kids meal but asking to split the whole bill three ways like somehow she had a wallet in her rucksack made me laugh!

I started a fulltime college course in mid to late 90's. A woman on course asked if I could give her a lift. The bus cost her about £10 per week and I just asked for £3. She was off college one day so at end of week worked out how much to deducted off!!

Back when I used to smoke, I was in a pub in Wakefield & had forgotten my lighter. I asked a bloke who had his fags & lighter on the table if I could have light.

17yo daughter works in charity shop, for my birthday gave me £5 note only to spend in her shop. I got a money jar for £3 & got a £2coin change which I put in the jar & said, you've started my savings off. She didn't speak to me for weeks cos I 'stole' her £2 change

Asked my daughter's friend's dad if they wanted to join us at cinema. He let me pick them up, park, buy tickets, buy refreshments for all & drive home without offering a penny. Even worse, during the film he and his daughter got up and bought their own refreshments – none for us!

BONUS
This is the kind of person who will be shunned once we’re allowed to go to the pub again.
Out with a friend – As I got up to go to the bar (my round) he said – "I've still half a pint left, just give me the money instead". Also, he once counted how many chips he had left before going to the toilet – Which I re-arranged on his plate to look as though I'd eaten one. https://t.co/GDrvRKJx7j
