Sky News’ Beth Rigby’s ruthless dismantling of Boris Johnson is one minute very well spent
Boris Johnson emerged from his fridge today to take questions about the ‘Partygate’ scandal for the first time in nearly a week and it’s not getting any better for the beleaguered PM.
In fact, it appears to be getting a lot worse.
And it didn’t come much tougher for the so-called prime minister than his interview with Sky News political editor Beth Rigby.
It was as straight-talking as it was satisfying to watch. And Johnson had nowhere to go.
‘You are just taking the mickey out of the British people by suggesting it was a work event’.
[PM’s head down]
‘You know how silly that sounds don’t you?’
“I repeat my deep apology for mistakes that may’ve been made on my watch”, answers Boris Johnson.https://t.co/iOm40vn1kt pic.twitter.com/naPJvuuRAC

And here are just a few of the things people said about it.
1.
I think after her interview today it is fair to add @BethRigby to the @PippaCrerar @DanielHewittITV @PaulBrandITV @GaryGibbonC4 @BBCRosAtkins rollcall of honour restoring faith in journalism as opposed to the government narrative reporting done by too many these days 1/2

Superbly forensic & probing interview by @BethRigby on @SkyNews with @BorisJohnson – nailed him to the cross of his own bullsh*t over these illicit parties. The Prime Minister’s teary-eyed downbeat demeanour suggests to me he knows the game’s up.

What does it mean to give a "deep apology" for "mistakes that may have been made"? https://t.co/YGJgdSs3Ck

Took us back to the fabulous time Rigby quoted Johnson’s words back to him last summer …
Sky’s @BethRigby asks Boris Johnson if he and his ministers have ‘stoked division’ and questions if his ‘own record undermines his image as a unifier’.
The PM says he “disagrees”, and claims that he “always said it was wrong to boo the England players”.https://t.co/xnT9iaebik pic.twitter.com/ZOCwnAU22h
