Hugh Grant had the perfect put down for Farage’s green policy referendum grift
As part of the fight to halt climate change, many countries – including the UK – have agreed to try to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
While many environmental experts say that 2050 is too late, that well-known climate change scientist former commodities trader, career politician, and celebrity message sender on Thrillz, Nigel Farage has a completely different take.
His new hobby horse, supported by Brexit Hard Man Steve Baker’s Net Zero Scrutiny Group, got two main responses, which can be summed up like this –
Look who’s realised he can’t squeeze any more money out of Brexit.
Look who’s trying to prevent the UK from needing less Russian gas.
Here are some of the best examples.

Nigel Farage is a heavy smoker and drinker who is very likely to be dead before the government’s current net zero target of 2050 is reached. He has no future to protect, only a past littered with lies. pic.twitter.com/BDq5swlwym

Dear @Nigel_Farage and @TiceRichard,
You campaigned for a Brexit which is costing every UK household up to £3,600
And now you want us to believe you’re concerned about the cost of Net Zero to UK households?
Looks like that Brexit money ran out quickly…

If we were to hold a referendum on net zero and the country somehow voted against it – does this mean that when technological progress accidentally gets us to net zero by 2050 anyway, the government would have to intervene to pump out more CO2 to ensure we weren't carbon neutral?

The public have already voted in favour of achieving net zero, as you’ll no doubt recall it was a key point in the tory party’s manifesto at the last election. Surely you’re not advocating overturning the result of a democratic vote? That would be hypocritical.
