This old clip of a real horse meeting a puppet horse is on another level
Before Covid made performances impossible, the stage play of Michael Morpurgo’s moving novel, War Horse – adapted by Nick Stafford – had been seen by over eight million people in 11 countries.
At the heart of the production are the puppet horses, worked by puppeteers inside them – like a pantomime horse, but far better.
During the 2012 to 2014 tour of the US, in Birmingham, Alabama, a police horse was introduced to Joey, one of the puppets.
