Boris Johnson insists the post-Brexit trade slowdown is due to lack of energy and ambition
On Wednesday, Boris Johnson faced questions from the Liaison Committee, which is a sort of supergroup of Select Committee heads – like The Travelling Wilburys without the good tunes.
He spoke about nuclear power, Ukraine and the cost of living, but refused to be drawn on Partygate.
Boris Johnson tells the Liaison Committee that the UK has “barely six” nuclear reactors. It actually has 13, according to his government.

PM tells the Liaison Committee any commentary on partygate would be 'premature' after the Met yesterday said it was handing out 20 fines.
He defends throwing a party for Tory MPs last night, saying the govt worked 'incredibly hard' during the pandemic. #Partygate

His response to Conservative MP Mel Stride on the effects of Brexit was a masterclass in inconsequential fluff.
Is the PM concerned that because of Brexit, the UK is becoming "more of a closed economy"? asks Conservative MP Mel Stride
"There is no natural impediment to our exports, it is just will and energy and ambition," replies Boris Johnsonhttps://t.co/r9o8yCGLAT pic.twitter.com/5VmDxN3B54

Jacob Rees-Mogg must be so proud. These people weren’t.
1.
He knows it isn't true. More importantly, he knows it doesn't matter. Because he also knows that craven colleagues & countless client journalists will cover for him & excuse the lies, just as they've done with the identical three-year-old lie about Northern Ireland border checks. https://t.co/5aZBiLOdce

Clueless. And frankly an insult to those who work hard in whatever way to facilitate UK exports against the impacts of his own policies. https://t.co/6ge29yfXDH

This PM is such an utter loser. He doesn't know what he is talking about. He knows nothing about business, or how international trade actually works. He is about as sharp as a grease pencil. https://t.co/OtUbRISnXo

“There is no natural impediment to our exports, it is just will and energy and ambition," says Johnson in yet another display of total bolloxing nonsense, revealing his total inability to understand, think or care about the consequences of what he’s done.

Johnson is right: “no natural impediment to 🇬🇧 exports”. Just the artificial one chosen by Johnson himself – the hardest possible Brexit https://t.co/apgO60EPxB

Oh I SEE. The problem is just the lazy exporters. Of course, silly me. https://t.co/XEcWRe3buN

Hey there British exporters,
Has your business been decimated by Brexit?
That’s just because you done have enough “will and energy and ambition”… https://t.co/B7x1hvaO2t

This needs to be fact checked to see if energy and ambition can override additional costs!

Boris Johnson accuses British exporters of lacking 'energy and ambition'…
