Tory MPs’ suggestion of a Margaret Thatcher Day is as popular as you’d expect

The UK is in a cost-of-living crisis, hospitalisations from Covid are rising, and members of the Conservative Party and their staff are being fined for having lockdown parties in Downing Street and Westminster.

There couldn’t be a more perfect time for the Tories to discuss doing something to avert the catastrophe of impending energy price rises establishing an annual day in honour of Margaret Thatcher.

The UK’s first female prime minister is such an unopular figure that public monuments in her honour, including a life-size statue intended for Westminster but given to her home town, are permanent targets for vandalism.
