Tory MPs’ suggestion of a Margaret Thatcher Day is as popular as you’d expect
The UK is in a cost-of-living crisis, hospitalisations from Covid are rising, and members of the Conservative Party and their staff are being fined for having lockdown parties in Downing Street and Westminster.
There couldn’t be a more perfect time for the Tories to discuss doing something to avert the catastrophe of impending energy price rises establishing an annual day in honour of Margaret Thatcher.

The UK’s first female prime minister is such an unopular figure that public monuments in her honour, including a life-size statue intended for Westminster but given to her home town, are permanent targets for vandalism.
Twitter knew the score.

I thought every day was Thatcher day there, which explains why the Tories are in a 50 year long psychodrama, paralysed by their obsession with a ghost who would have disapproved of pretty much all they’ve done since 1990.

On the other hand, there have been worse ideas –
A 'Margaret Thatcher Day' is an absolutely terrible idea, and the worst idea since someone thought, 'You know what be great? Boris Johnson as PM.'
