Carrie Johnson has received a Partygate penalty and the internet says it’s fine by them
If Rishi Sunak was unhappy about people bringing his wife’s business affairs into the light of day, we can only imagine how angry Boris Johnson is going to be now that his wife, Carrie, has been issued with a fine for breaking Covid lockdown rules.
Prime Minister, Chancellor, and Carrie Johnson are all to be fined over events that broke the law during lockdown – could have enormous consequences, and all happening during Easter holidays when MPs are away

News of the latest round of fines hit Twitter as though someone had found a king buried in a car park or Shergar in their Tesco lasagne.
Unbelievable. Truly astounding. https://t.co/4DKHFBqEMJ

"What did you say?"
"There were no parties"
"And then what?"
"If there were parties I wasn't at them"
"And now what's happened?"

Boris Johnson receiving a fixed penalty #partygate fine and the honourable thing for a Prime Minister to do would be to immediately resign so that definitely won't happen

If anything, I think it probably helps if the person making up the laws has some personal experience of breaking them.#Partygate

Still, it must be nice for Boris Johnson to get a written demand for money that isn't related to child support.

While the politicians took most of the flak, there were some jibes aimed squarely at Carrie.

“In the interests of transparency, Mrs Johnson kept her mouth shut about breaking the law, clapping on her doorstep for the NHS & doing photo ops & all that, not admitting what she’d done for a second, until she had no choice to confirm what we already knew. And expects thanks.” https://t.co/A2arigJVRo

Before anybody gets too happy, let’s not kid ourselves that Sunak and the two Johnsons will have to miss any meals to cover the unexpected cost.
