The Daily Mail said Boris Johnson can’t go because there’s a war on – only 5 responses you need
As the law-breaking prime minister and his chancellor show no signs of doing what the ministerial code and every decent individual demands, the Daily Mail took a most predictable – and yet incredible – line on its front page today.
Just in case that’s tricky to read (and to save you the bother of clicking anywhere near it), here’s how it begins.
‘Boris Johnson last night vowed to get on with the job after being find £50 over Partygate.
‘He, his wife Carrie and Chancellor Rishi Sunak were all given fixed penalty notices for an impromptu celebration of his birthday in Downing Street during lockdown.
‘But even the Prime Minister’s toughest critics said ousting him when Europe faced its gravest crisis since the Second World War was a mistake.
‘And the police probe was branded a farce amid claims …’
Well that’s quite enough of that.
And these are surely the only 5 responses you need.
1.
Britain famous for not changing Prime Ministers during a war pic.twitter.com/76ViYm6Ngz

2.
Their justification for keeping Boris Johnson is that we need him in case of war. Boris Johnson. A man who is currently trying to survive a cake ambush.

3.
If the Prime Minister didn't know a birthday party was violating his own fucking lockdown rules maybe it's not a great idea to have him in charge of a country during a fucking war

Tomorrow's Daily Mail asks 'Don't they know there's a war on?' as if reporting on the Prime Minister breaking the law is frivolous. By that logic, why the fuck were they reporting on airport queues and Meghan Markle a day earlier? Wasn't there a war on? pic.twitter.com/QOK1uZiYvq

Just in case anyone was in doubt.

And if they were still in doubt.
Truth Matters:
1.Britain is NOT at war
2.We would support Ukraine whomever leads
3.Russian money actually corrupted those who lead us
4.Clearest way to know how important the Rule of Law is to reflect on what not having it, looks like
5.Those who break the law cannot make the law— nazir afzal (@nazirafzal) April 12, 2022
And also this.
Anyone notice the French are holding full elections but somehow we are unable to consider a change of leadership because Ukraine is at War?

Author and columnist Ian Dunt put it rather nicely on the Sky News paper review last night.
‘What I do know is that – the headline in The Daily Mail – is a grotesque combination of gibbering lunacies and lack of standards that I’ve seen on a front page of a British newspaper for a very long time.’ @IanDunt #skypapers

It looked like even some Daily Mail readers weren’t buying it. Well, these weren’t, as highlighted by @jamesjohnson252 on Twitter.
Last word to the brilliant Brian Bilston.
