Nadine Dorries got slammed over her half-baked excuse for the PM’s partygate fine
Despite so far having received a fixed penalty notice for just one breach of Covid laws – for a gathering on his birthday in 2020 – Boris Johnson is expected to hit the jackpot with several more.
Three. More. Fines.
How can we fly the flag for an international rules-based order if our leader is breaking his own laws at home?https://t.co/PzOec60xE2

A poll has revealed that most people believe the PM should resign over the scandal, and the discussion around it doesn’t seem to be dying down, despite the distraction of the government’s much-criticised Rwandan refugee deal.
Someone in Conservative HQ saw the Partygate crisis and said: Let's announce we'll deport refugees to Rwanda to change the subject and divide the country.
Just imagine being that morally debased.

If a kid breaks the rules, their parents can punish them
If a CEO breaks the rules, their board can remove them
If a citizen breaks the law, the police can arrest them
If a PM breaks the rules
…or the law
…or the ministerial code
The PM decides the consequences

We can't expect Boris Johnson to get away with #Partygate, say "phew, that was a close call" and suddenly become more moral. That's not what he will learn from it. He'll learn that he can break laws with impunity.
And he'll use that lesson in future elections.

Boris Johnson heading to India this week on a very important mission to avoid getting the sack from all the partygate revelations

54% of people think I should resign, which is totally insignificant.
If it only in a Brexit referendum that 52% becomes an "overwhelming mandate" that must be implemented. https://t.co/wsTeho6sGz— Parody Boris (@Parody_PM) April 16, 2022
Every day that Boris Johnson remains tarnishes his party and the office of the Prime-Minister.
Removing him is not only the ethical thing for Conservative MPs to do.
It is also profoundly in their long-term interest.— Rory Stewart (@RoryStewartUK) April 18, 2022
The usual suspects have been rolled out to news studios to defend Johnson, but one MP who doesn’t need to clutch the short straw of doom to speak up on his behalf was running true to form when she posted this to Twitter
The comment went down like most of Ms Dorries’ hot takes – like a National Insurance rise during a cost of living crisis.
1.
That's right Nads, nothing to do with breaking my own rules, partying while others died alone or lying about it to Parliament – just cake.

Got a family who couldn't be with their father as he died who'd like to speak to you here Nadine. OK if I send them through?

Nadine!
You are so embarrassing yourself with all your unconditional devotion.
Take a deep breath and step away from your device.
Have some dignity. https://t.co/pOgyfFUtVr— Clare Hepworth OBE (@Hepworthclare) April 18, 2022

You say "uneaten cake", I say "rule-breaking government". https://t.co/wsv5cPRCS0

Disingenuous.
No-one cares about cake. We care the PM is first in history to break the law in office. He did it repeatedly. His own laws. And lied in Parliament about it – also a resigning offence.
And fwiw; the first vaccine we administered was both discovered & made in EU.

HE BROKE THE FUCKING RULES WHILST TELLING EVERYBODY ELSE THEY COULD NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BREAK THE RULES. UKRAINE COULDN’T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT HIM. HES AN INSULT TO THE IDEA OF FOREIGN AID AND TO THE IDEA OF COMPASSIONATE LEADERSHIP. DISGUSTING. FUCKING DISGUSTING.

At least we've figured out why the country had so many Covid deaths. It's all our fault. They told us to sing happy birthday twice while washing our hands, but we took it to mean 20 seconds and didn't consider the now obvious Tory standard of 9 minutes per song. https://t.co/AEkmLRY8wO

Describing 150,000 deaths, people dying alone, people buried alone, the ongoing level of corruption, as you fill your own pockets while the country slowly dies around you, as 'uneaten cake' seems a bit flippant, Nadine.
You consistently fail to see the big picture https://t.co/iLV8kdmmFu— The Sting (@TSting18) April 18, 2022

'Uneaten cake' is a weird way to spell 'lying sack of shit' but okay pic.twitter.com/aNDQ94jRsg

If Johnson had been accused of force-feeding someone so much cake they choked to death, Nadine would be arguing the flour-fat ratio in the recipe. https://t.co/1nGNt7t8Mz

Guy Clapperton burnt Nadine Dorries’ straw man to the ground.
Russia was actually the first to administer a vaccine (this does not make it a role model) and Lithuania the first to ship major weapons. None of which means we should shrink from aiding Ukraine and nor would we, no matter who took over. These are all red herrings or errors.
