First communion is a very special day in a Christian’s life, when they take the bread and wine that sits at the heart of the mass or service. The bread is just a tiny wafer and the wine is usually actual alcohol, even for children, because it’s only a sip, so what harm could it do, right?

One young girl made sure hers was memorable not just to herself but also to the rest of the congregation and – especially – to the priest.
