Boris Johnson missed the point of Susanna Reid’s question so hard it will have you hollering into next week
Boris Johnson has just appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain for the first time in more than 1,700 days.
But if he was hoping for an easier ride now that Piers Morgan has famously moved off to pastures new, he was very much mistaken, with no end of praise for presenter Susanna Reid today.
Boris Johnson will need to sit in a fridge to cool down after that scorching @susannareid100 interview.
Might be another five years before the next @GMB one.
If he lasts that long.

And there was one line of questioning in particular which went viral, about a 77-year-old pensioner called Elsie on a £170 a week pension whose energy bills are going up by £816 a year.
Elsie gets up early in the morning to travel on the bus all day so she can keep warm without turning her heating on.
And Johnson missed the point so hard it had the entire internet hollering.
.@susannareid100 tells the PM about 77-year-old Elsie who eats one meal a day and stays on the bus all day to avoid using energy at home.
She questions the PM about the comments he made about people having to make choices about what they spend their money on. pic.twitter.com/26b7kPuBNh

Ooof.
And here are just a few of the things people said about it.
1.
This @gmb interview shows why cost of living crisis is so dangerous for Government.
Boris Johnson struggling with story about Elsie, 77, who rides buses all day because she can’t afford to heat her home.
PM: “The 24 hr freedom bus pass was something I actually introduced".

2.
Boris Johnson showing he’s the sort of man who, if told by Susanna Reid people had been eating out of bins to stay alive, he would proudly announce he was the one who decided to empty bins less in order for people to have more access to food.

3.
I think it's a pretty low blow for Susanna Reid to bring up real people, as if I could possibly know or care anything about them. #GMB

Susanna Reid is brilliant in this interview. People Johnson needs to vote on Thursday watch this show every morning. He hears about an elderly woman so skint she has to ride the bus all day to stay warm so he: brags about introducing the bus pass. https://t.co/pQsStNlHmm

Categorically demonstrated that Johnson has nothing to offer people struggling with bills, nor the empathetic capacity to even grapple with the question. https://t.co/pmlruGhU92

Unfcknbelievable 77 year old Elsie travelling round on buses to keep warm, Boris Johnson, I introduced the bus pass… what is wrong with this guy? Seriously what is wrong with Boris Johnson? https://t.co/zipNITeFjr

Of course Johnson doesn’t care about Elsie. It was Elsie’s entire demographic that he set out to kill off during the pandemic. pic.twitter.com/7wAmuGovzO

‘Debating skills’ in tatters here. @susannareid100 has studied his tricks and is doing a fine job of shutting down his false boasts and diversionary tactics. No ‘Mr Speaker’ here. No braying MPs to cheer him on. No fridge to hide in. And he can’t cope.pic.twitter.com/7hbzn59qXK

Boris Johnson 2016: "BRITAIN WILL NOW BECOME A REAL PLAYER ON THE WORLD STAGE"
Boris Johnson 2022: "Pensioners who can't afford to heat their homes are more than welcome to ride buses all day"

'Sit on a bus to avoid heating your home.'
Somebody should write that on the side of a bus. https://t.co/8aBWjlQbX4

And just in the interests of accuracy and all that …
Johnson said "I introduced the freedom pass" but that too was a lie. The pass has been around since 1973 – he simply reinstated them for 60 year olds on payment of a fee. pic.twitter.com/FYKE0fjiAe

To conclude.

And this.
Susanna Reid’s GMB interview has revealed two key points:
1. Johnson has zero plan to solve the cost of living crisis, the energy crisis or any of the other crises they have caused.
2. Susanna Reid hates that prick as much as the rest of us.
