Our hearts are bleeding over poor Boris and Carrie Johnson’s lack of a salad bowl – 14 favourite reactions
One of the many scandals to have dogged Boris Johnson throughout his time in office is the issue of who paid for a lavish redecoration of his flat.
It turned out to have been Tory donor Lord Brownlow – the same guy who offered to install a £150,000 tree house at Chequers for the Johnsons’ baby son. After questions about the legality of the flat payments, the PM apparently reimbursed the peer.
Reassuring to know that our PM can be bought with the cost of a flat refurb

Details of the refurbishment recently came to light, with people balking at the £7,000 rug and the £3,675 Russian drinks trolley, amongst other things.
Whoever the next PM is they will get a lovely flat – leaked invoice shows £3765 drinks trolley and £7000 rug as part of £208,104 refurbishment cost which PM and family enjoyed for a couple of years https://t.co/1mrGSBcZGR the movables may be taken but surely not the wallpaper? pic.twitter.com/VYolDejhCB

Boris Johnson’s LBC presenter sister, Rachel, weighed in on the stories, and she probably just made things worse.
'Boris and Carrie don't even have a salad bowl!'

All this time, we thought the Johnsons were living in the lap of luxury, but THEY DIDN’T EVEN HAVE A SALAD BOWL.

So Lord Brownlow was fleeced? The invoices are fake? Interesting – would love to know more. https://t.co/q7ywAFMRlj

Thanks to Boris, a lot of folks right now can barely afford the salad, never mind the bowl. https://t.co/r61PLaotrf

Rachel Johnson has spent 20 plus years feathering her brother's nest. Endless articles, puff pieces and comments about how brilliant he is. Idea that she is some detached observer looking on is an inverted pyramid of buster gonadian sized bollocks.

Boris Johnson has as much use for a salad bowl as he has for an ethics advisor. https://t.co/HbOKkxeTLx

Honestly, my brother Dr Harold Shipman didn't have any needles, access to medicines, a prescription book, or even any patients. https://t.co/WuuttShRB6

The salad bowl line is delivered as though Rachel Johnson is breaking some heartbreaking news. The tone usually saved for a charity advert at Christmas. https://t.co/1JlKoVgLBG

It’s true – they eat salad out of a Faberge’ egg balanced on the back of a poor person.

Steve Bullock had a suggestion.
If this is what it will take for them to fuck off, can someone please just give them a damn salad bowl. https://t.co/y8MzIDef57
