The government is tabling a vote of no confidence in itself and satire is dead – 11 NOs to the left
After the bloodless coup that saw more than 50 MPs resign their government and parliamentary posts, resulting in Boris Johnson agreeing to step down, Labour questioned why he should be allowed to stay in post.
Since the Tories have failed to act in the national interest, Labour will.
We've put down a vote of no confidence in this discredited Prime Minister and his government.
The Tories can’t let him cling on for weeks and weeks and weeks.
It would be intolerable for the country.

This was the motion.
“That this House has no confidence in Her Majesty’s Government while the Rt Hon Member for Uxbridge and South Ruislip remains Prime Minister.”
However, it didn’t make it to the Commons.
BREAKING: Boris Johnson has blocked Labour's bid to hold vote of no confidence in Govt tomorrow
Senior Labour source: "It's just another example of them ripping up the rules to protect their own side. They're saying he's going anyway but they're clearly frightened of losing".

It seemed like a very Trumpian move.
It's a dictatorship they're running now. This is mad. https://t.co/Rsyqa2PA91

Our politics…
Allows the person in whom Parliament wants to table a vote of no confidence
To be able to block Parliament from said vote of confidence
Great system.

We’re living somewhere between wonderland and the looking glass. The government refused to give time for a motion of no confidence tabled by Labour, thereby defying every convention, but now tables a vote of confidence in itself.

In ‘You couldn’t make it up’ news, the government will now be allowing time for a vote of no confidence in itself …tabled by itself.

It’s the satirists we feel sorry for.
BREAKING: Boris Johnson will table a motion of No Confidence in his government after his government blocked Labour from tabling a motion of No Confidence in him yesterday.
Fuck it, I give up. I can't do this parody thing anymore. What is even the point? 😭😭😭

We live in strange times when the government tables a vote of no confidence in itself to prevent a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister who is resigning because his own MPs no longer have confidence in him.
This is one of many reasons why people avoid politics.— notesoffthecuff (@notesoffthecuff) July 13, 2022

As ever, Parody Boris said what the real Boris would never admit.
Why bother voting on whether MPs have confidence in me when I have enough confidence in me for all of us?
