The only response you need to anyone comparing the 40C heat to 1976
With temperatures forecast to reach an unprecedented 40C and the Met Office issuing its first ever red alert for large parts of the country, the UK has never see anything like it.
#Heatwave2022 continues with a a very warm start Monday, temperatures rising rapidly under strong sunshine throughout the morning, reaching into the mid to high thirties for many.

And yet there remain plenty of people who suggest it’s all an over-reaction, with the famously hot summer of 1976 a favourite comparison.
Like this person, for instance.
It was tough, but a huge shout out to everyone who who survived the 10 week heatwave of 1976.
Yet some 46 odd years later, apparently we won’t survive a 2 day one & we’re all going to die!

But … 1976!
Whenever you see someone repeat the utter nonsense written that 2022 is somehow like 1976, send them this. https://t.co/UMITlfKQcO

Just in case you still weren’t convinced …
Since 1976 humans have increased the CO₂ concentration 27% from 330ppm to 420ppm by emitting 100 times more CO₂ than all the world’s volcanoes combined. https://t.co/kuxUXIF8fx

Since the Industrial Revolution humans have increased the CO₂ concentration 50% from 280ppm to 420ppm.
Humans are now responsible for 33% of the atmosphere’s CO₂.
