The Foreign Office – to give it it’s casual name – has a vested interest in getting Liz Truss over the finishing line to become prime minister, since that would give them a chance to get someone else in for their top job.
Whoever runs their Twitter account certainly tried to paint her in a statesmanlike light, with this post.
The tweet was almost a gilt-edged invitation to criticism – or even mockery.
She's incapable of doing anything without attaching a "dog shown a magic trick" photo to it.
