Ian Wright got serious for a moment during the Lionesses’ path to Euros glory and it’s brilliant
There was no shortage of moments that went viral during the Lionesses’ historic Euros win over Germany, not least this fabulous moment when Chloe Kelly abandoned her post-win interview to sing Sweet Caroline.
This particular moment wasn’t from Sunday’s final but came during England’s 4-0 semi-final win over Sweden, captured by @SoozUK on Twitter. But it went viral all over again because what BBC pundit Ian Wright had to say was so important.
I ❤️ @IanWright0 so much. #ENG #ENGSWE pic.twitter.com/3G2QGRXKnn

And just a few of the things people said about it.
Ian Wright hits the nail on the head so, so regularly. Protect this bloke at all costs. pic.twitter.com/LUNCG24xKk

Ian Wright could have joined in with the painstaking cheerleading going on around him. But instead he chose to suggest that if this night doesn’t act as the catalyst for girls nationwide being able to play football in PE, then it’s worthless. Superb. pic.twitter.com/XXzyah2L6c

I'll let @IanWright0 do the plug – only 63% of girls have the same chance to play football at school as boys do. The @FA wants equal access by 2024 #LetGirlsPlay pic.twitter.com/NnvObwfBza

And @shattenstone.
Alex Scott and Ian Wright are such brilliant pundits β they understand football, its history and its politics. And they're bloody great people.
