A suite of central bank Financial Markets directors ignored me, their principal, in favour of my male colleague they just met & sent me to the end of the meeting table like a note taker. Until their boss came in, sat next to me & thanked me for coming to the country to see him 🤭

I was just in a team meeting where I presented my idea verbally and in writing. The team ignored it until another male team member restated my idea. Then the rest of the team congratulated him on his good idea. I was the only female. Nothing has changed in 30 years.

I’m a veterinarian. I wear a white coat, have a stethoscope on, have a name tag that says Dr., introduce myself, and do the exam. If I have male support staff with me, the clients almost always think the man is the real doctor.

My pal is a Professor (in the UK sense, not the US) and went to a conference with a male research associate. The university, her employer, put him as the prof and her as Mrs on all the paperwork, flights, hotels, registration. She’s not even a Mrs, to add further insult.

On the way to a client, (male) senior partners told my female friend not to say anything during the meeting.
Client asked questions partners couldn’t answer and she jumped in and did.
Partners later apologized.— Bernard Silverman (@DonKeehotey) August 16, 2022

I once interviewed a candidate for a job who told me that “the girl at the door told me to wait here”. “the girl” was in fact the VP of operations and probably the most important person in the company after the CEO.
Suffice to say, he did not get the job.— Adam Brouwers-Harries (@harriesadam) August 16, 2022

Once I was asked to give a comment for a news article, but the reporter changed his mind saying he couldn’t be sure whether my opinion as an economist would really be mine or from my husband. My husband is not an economist. I am.
