The brutal takedown of this Tory peer was 3 months in the making and it’s fabulous
Sometimes the very best comebacks are worth waiting for, and this one is straight out of the top drawer.
Rewind to 31 May this year, when Tory peer and former advisor to Boris Johnson Lord Moylan said calls for the then PM to resign over Partygate were ‘politically driven’ and a ‘press campaign.’
Tory Peer Lord Moylan argues that calls for Boris Johnson to resign over Partygate is a ‘press campaign’ and a ‘politically-driven campaign’.

It caught the eye of James Mitchinson, editor of the Yorkshire Post, who was keen to nail the suggestion that it was just a ‘press campaign’. And he really wasn’t messing around when he did it.
Press campaign? @danielmgmoylan He is the first sitting PM to break the law. He raised a glass – illegally – with friends, putting innocent people’s lives at risk, when we were forbidden from the bedsides of our dying loved ones … because he said so!
You, sir. You are a joke. https://t.co/sFgNomiywd

Moylan responded like this …
… So imagine the absolute satisfaction @JayMitchinson must have felt when tweeting this on Tuesday, moments after Johnson had been driven away from Downing Street.
BOOM!
Chapeau, James for this sweet, sweet burn.

Turns out Moylan likes to troll The Yorkshire Post, posting things like this.
I’m going to Yorkshire for a short break next week. Everything I’ve read recently in @yorkshirepost makes me fear I’m going to find it transformed into a county of leftist whingers begging for handouts.
Let’s hope that’s not the case. https://t.co/AIWZC3sT2W

And this.
I’m having a lovely time in Yorkshire and, as I expected and have always found, the people are much nicer and more sensible than @yorkshirepost makes them seem.

Which just makes the whole thing even sweeter.
