The new Willy Wonka film would have a very different vibe with Gonzo in the lead role

December will see the release of the latest film inspired by Roald Dahl‘s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but instead of being the story of Charlie Bucket‘s golden ticket tour, it’s the origin story of the factory’s owner, Willy Wonka.

Wonka, from the director and writer of both Paddington films, features Timothée Chalamet in the title role, and co-stars Hugh Grant as an Oompa Loompa, with support from Mathew Baynton, Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key and co-writer Simon Farnaby.

The first trailer dropped this week.

Here’s how people have been reacting.

People noticed an interesting style choice.

Comedian and film-maker, Matt Highton went one step further – and it puts a very different spin on things.

We’re long overdue a Muppets blockbuster. Just saying. Matt’s editgot a virtual standing ovation.

We’ll just leave this here.

What if Miss Piggy were Barbie, eh?

You can also find Matt on YouTube, and if you feel like supporting his sterling work, you can do that too.
