An open letter to Nadine Dorries highlights how much she’s neglected her constituents – 16 favourite comments

We’re not sure of the status of Nadine Dorries‘ investigation into why she wasn’t made a life peer on the request of Boris Johnson, which she claims is preventing her from officially stepping down as an MP, but seven weeks after “resigning with immediate effect”, she still hasn’t gone.

Flitwick Town Council, in her constituency of Mid Bedfordshire, has had enough of waiting.

Adam Bienkov shared their open letter.

“The last time you spoke in the Commons was 7th June 2022. You have not maintained a constituency office for a considerable time, and it’s widely understood that you have not held a surgery in Flitwick since March 2020.”

“Rather than representing constituents, the Council is concerned that your focus appears to have been firmly on your television show, upcoming book and political manoeuvres to embarrass the Government for not appointing you to the House of Lords.”

“Our residents desperately need representation now, and Flitwick Town Council calls on you to immediately vacate your seat to allow a by-election.”

They did well to write such a beautifully worded missive while desperately clinging to the end of their tether.

Nobody was in any way shocked to learn the scope of Dorries’ neglect of her constituents – and Flitwick Town Council got a virtual cheer from tweeters.
