A Chinese zoo had to deny that one of their bears was a person in a costume – and we can see why

After a video went viral on Weibo, Hangzhou Zoo in China’s Zhejiang province was forced to issue a statement confirming that one of their exhibits – Angela, the sun bear – was, in fact, a bear.

Sun bears, which only grow to just over four feet, are fairly unusual-looking, and it was the folds of skin on Angela’s back – which are perfectly normal – that led people to believe that she wasn’t a genuine bear.

Here’s the clip that went viral. Judge for yourself.

In a statement, the zoo said –

“If you get someone to wear such thick fur in this summer heat, they won’t last more than a few minutes before they need to lie down”

Fair point. Here’s what people have been saying about it.
